We have received a report of a possible scam in the Cambridge Road / Wellington Road area of St Albans, where a motorbike has lightly made contact with pedestrians before engaging them in conversation.

While this has not been formally confirmed as a scam, incidents of this nature have been reported elsewhere and may be used to pressure individuals into handing over details or money.

What to watch out for

Minor or very light contact where no obvious injury has occurred

The rider insisting on exchanging details or making payment arrangements

Feeling pressured or rushed during the interaction

Our advice if this happens to you

✅ Stay calm and do not feel pressured to provide personal or financial information

✅ Do not hand over cash or agree to immediate payments

✅ If possible, move to a safe, public place and seek assistance

✅ Take note of descriptions (vehicle, rider, clothing) if it is safe to do so

✅ Contact police via 101 to report the incident (or 999 in an emergency)
